Glass top already broken!

I was happy with it, until the glass got broken on the edge 2 weeks ago...I am still trying to figure out how did it happen. I am meticulously careful with everything and seeing this cook top broken everyday on my brand new kitchen is not the nice...specially after what I paid for it!

Have only had use of this for a few days but have found it easy to use. Burnt the first thing cooked so have to learn to take things a little slower. Bit of a learning curve but is fun. Would have preferred one of the bigger burners to be at the front as it seems am always reaching over to the back to stir or add things. Makes it a little awkward. This review would be better after a month or two of use.

Induction Frustration
11/13/2019
Bought my Whirlpool GCI3061XB00 3 yrs ago. Within the 1st 3 months it quit working. 3 trips from the local repair center fighting with Whirlpool not being able to identify the SN of my unit to repair it under warranty, we finally got it fixed. We only cook on this cooktop about once a month, now 3 yrs later its dead again. This has been a horrible experience. If you figure that in the 3 yrs we've owned this cooktop, its only been used maybe 20 times; this thing has cost me about $40 every time I've used it. Now I am going to have to shell-out more money to get it fixed AGAIN! Crazy....!

I bought my induction cooktop through IKEA. The original cooktop was ruined by a thermal crack but luckily under IKEAs warranty so Whirpool replaced it. One year later, two of the rings don't work and there is an F47 code. I look it up on the internet and it wasn't looking good. I call Whirlpool and they tell me there is no warranty (not that one was ever offered to me for the replacement!) but they will send a technician. Technician doesn't show for the first appointment (after I take 4 hours off work to meet him) and when he finally come 10 days later (second half day off work) he looks up the code and tells me the whole unit needs to be replaced. Then he tells me I owe him $250 for him to stand beside me and look that info up on his iPad after I lost 8 hours of work!! So now I cook on 2 rings because I can't afford to replace it. How can these things not be fixable?? I will tell you I loved it until this happened and now I would suggest you go with gas if you wants a reaponsive cooktop without the headaches. Like other reviewers, our cooktop has the F47 error. Estimated repair costs are more than I paid for the cooktop. In speaking with Whirlpool, they refuse to acknowledge that this is a recurring problem with the cooktop. I highly recommend steering clear of this unit.

Almost like gas
DorieK

We recently moved from a home that had a gas range that we loved to a home where gas was not an option. So we researched cooktops and chose the whirlpool 30" induction. We are really happy with this appliance, it heats up quickly and is adjustable to a lower temp when needed. Th controls are touch and easy to use and makes it very sleek. The surface itself seems very durable so far, unlike other smooth cooktops that scratch pretty easily. So far it has stayed like new and we use it everyday, many days twice. An unexpected bonus is that we are able to have a large drawer right under it, no need for that fake panel that looks like a drawer. Love it!

Had this installed with our new home. Cooked on it maybe a total of 12 times, then a loud pop and now it's not working. The warranty's expired since, we were only in our house on weekends for the first year. It is 1 year 1 month so the warranty is expired.
After reading so may reviews of this product continually breaking, not sure I even want to get it fixed. Problem is now finding a stovetop that fits my cutout. Extremely upset with whirlpool!!!!!

Have not even used this for a year and a half, heard a pop noise and would not work again. Replaced fuse and popped again and sparks under glass top. Called whirlpool and was told warranty expires after 1 year and could not assist. There are other reviews with same issue and no assistance given. Also there is a recall on these for burners turning on by themselves but of course my serial number is not included in listing so too bad for me. My advise is to look at different brands and better customer service

We bought this range 6 years ago and after 3 years had to replace a "board" so top of range would work and now looks like the oven control and or element are gone as oven will only heat to 335 degrees and takes 1/2 hour to get there.
I would not recommend this range. We paid a lot of money for poor quality.

Complete Garbage!!! Works for one week at a time
Louie S
6/21/2019
So I got this thing. Installed it, worked great for a week. Stopped working, waited a week for service from whirlpool, only for tech to come out and tell me they can't fix as they don't carry parts. Waited another 9 days for part to arrive. Than another 3 for a service schedule. Tech replaced fuses and it worked. Well here we are !!! A week later and 3 uses later!!! Does not work again!!! So we are now going over a month without a working unit!!! And it's after hours so we can't get a hold of anyone. Completely garbage and unexceptional . I'm glad to see I'm not the only one dealing with this garbage.

We've had it for 3 years and it's stopped working 3X. Here a pop..then it shuts off. Whirlpool helped sort it out but still made us pay! Waiting to hear what they say about this 3rd time....frankly surprised they are still selling their top of the line $1800 product that breaks all the time...

Cracked from one side to the other
Veronica S

We were so excited to purchase this sleek looking cooktop, only for it to crack completely from the back burner all the way to the front. After countless calls, we realized that Whirlpool does not value its customer care. After spending $1,300 plus we now have to spend $500 to replace the glass or purchase a completely new cook top. The lack of quality in your products clearly shows, since we've only had the cooktop for 3 years.

I bought this two years ago, but had it professionally installed in six months later. I have had problems with two other WP Gold appliances, they extended my warrantee six months on an oven that will not self clean without popping a fuse on top of the over - W/P recommended I just pay for service calls, $550.00. Now this cooktop. It went pop, did not trip a circuit breaker, but went dead. W/P customer service tells me, too bad...This is my third WP Gold Lemon. Beware. I would not recommend it and they will not even sell me one at cost. Go figure. My whole kitchen was remolded with W/P Gold and now I must find another brand that will fit into the granite whole before Thanksgiving. Thanks for nothing, Whirlpool!

We are on our 3rd Whirlpool Induction oven, not to mention several service calls to address the same problem that is being reported below. Whirlpool continues to replace the oven because they are unable to repair the power board. When are they going to make the appropriate repair with this model so customers can have a reliable oven? I would never recommend this brand to anyone.

Horrible induction cooktop
KYEU
2/13/2018
I bought this induction cooktop (Model #: W10441306A) not cheap 3 years ago. One week ago, the stove keeps beeping non-stop even though nothing is on, and the button stop functioning. We unplug and replug to make the noise go away and hoping reset will solve the problem. After unplug and replug, the noise stop but the cooktop is still not working.
So we wait for few hours hoping it will come back to life, but then nothing happened. My husband was in a bad mood as we cannot afford to change new cooktop in 3 years time and it is winter here......so he hit on the cooktop to express his anger and suddenly it gets back to life..... but now the maximum heat can only be reached 6-7 (before when it is normal, the maximum heat is 8 or P). Sometimes it will make strange noise and stop remaining responsive when we pressed the button.
Now we are living in constant fear that the stove will suddenly die down like one week ago. We are deeply frustrated and disappointed with the Whirlpool brand. I DO NOT recommend this brand. I thought it should be a quality brand but now we are going thru this nightmare and we keep stressing out whenever we use the cooktop...... . I do not understand how come a 3 years old stove is so unstable.....

Whirlpool disguted
10/28/2017
We bought our induction cooktop last March 2016. Although we purchased it a year and a half ago, due to the duration of our kitchen remodel we had not started using it until last September 2016. One year and one month later, IT DOES NOT WORK!! I am so disappointed in this product. It worked beautifully for exactly one year and now nothing. It shut off suddenly one evening while I was cooking and has not worked since. There were no signs of anything wrong, it worked one second and shut off the next. The repairman came and got it to work for 3 more seconds with a new fuse and then it shut off again. We ordered a new module/ motherboard and had that installed and it still doesn't work. I don't recommend this product, we spent $1400 dollars on a cooktop and got only 1 year use out of it. All of the reviews I read were positive, so I thought it was a smart decision at the time of purchase. We should not have to buy a new cooktop every year. I think we can expect a lot more from a brand name like Whirlpool.

Very nice cooktop
2/7/2017
We purchased this cooktop to replace our old radiant top. We were skeptical about going to an induction cooktop but couldn't be more pleased after using it for a few months. We had to resurrect our stainless steel magnetic pan set which we had given up on because of cleaning difficulty. This cooktop is very, very fast. The burner areas do not get hot enough to burn the skin. The stainless steel pans do not scorch the way they used to. We love the cooktop.

Was all set for a gas top and the salesman talks my wife into an induction cook top. Looked cool and worked good, for six months and now it is toast. The power module failed and they are back ordered for three to four weeks. Now we are cooking on a Coleman stove in a new kitchen remodel. You decide, is it worth it? For me, no. I LOVE Induction Cooking!
RowdyDave
5/14/2016
I installed this cooktop about a month ago. Induction cooking is as close to cooking with gas as I believe can be found in an electric cooktop. Mine is a total electric house, so gas is not an option. The heat is there when you need it, properly regulated when it's time for that. I love induction cooking! In various homes I've owned, I've tried every type of electric range and cooktop. All work, but none have met my expectations until I discovered induction.Did I mention I LOVE Induction Cooking?

Induction cooking is the closest thing to cooking with gas that I have found. It allows for nearly instant heating and removal of heat, just like gas, as well as instant heat adjustment. It has also reduced my power costs compared to my old electric cook top. I'll be sticking with induction! I've always stuck with Whirlpool.

Got a great deal on this cook top. I've wanted an Induction for a long time. The cook in the house was skeptical, didn't like loosing her favorite pan. But we discovered we had more magnetic pans than we thought. Only had to purchase one replacement. After several weeks the cook is in love with the cook top, really likes the way foods cook in the pots and pans. Happy wife, Happy life. I'm happy.
